BOSTON - Climathon 2015

June 2015 ||| SCOPE: Flooding, Citizens, App ||| PROJECT: Tufts Institute of the Environment

On June 18th, 2015, cities around the world will join together in an intercontinental collaboration to find innovative solutions for climate change problems through a 24-hour hackathon event challenging students and citizens to take direct climate action within their own communities.



THE PROBLEM

Boston is among the world's top ten cities most vulnerable to damage from climate change-driven sea level rise. Browse through a collection of resources to begin learning more about what lies ahead.



THE CHALLENGE

Local officials, experts, and developers will share insights on the city's greatest risks and opportunities for innovation, along with workshops on emerging technology, followed by a 24-hour team-based hacking competition. Finalists will receive extended support to complete their projects, and one will be chosen to present at the UN's COP21 climate change conference in Paris.



THE GLOBAL EVENT

Created by the European Institute of Technology's Climate-KIC Program, the Global Climathon will be held in cooperation with major universities, research centers, and government facilities across North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania.
